Why A Community Garden?
A garden is one of the most creative places to be. Gardening is one of the most rewarding hobbies or work we can undertake. Whether it is growing our own food, or providing a riot of flowers outside our windows, encouraging animals and birds to share our space with us, or just providing a quiet spot to sit and contemplate, life without a garden would definitely be the poorer.
We want to make our garden accessible to all in the community and provide working facilities including greenhouse and workshop spaces for anyone who wants to use them. Once we have these facilities in place we particularly want encourage people who find it difficult to gain employment to come and take part in workshops and activities, to gain confidence and general work experience.
There will be space for people to socialise or find seclusion. Space to be active or tranquil. Space to learn together, from experiments to experience.
We will create a wildlife area, with sensory planting and quiet places. We want to foster an enjoyment and awareness of the biodiversity around us, learn how we can help preserve local greenspaces and our natural flora and fauna. We want to provide an enhance local environment for people and wildlife to exist in harmony.
